It was an instinctive but fatal gesture that prompted Danilo Sulas to throw himself into the well to save his dog.

The twenty-two year old from San Teodoro found dead this morning in the hamlet of Lutturai, had gone to the family land to prepare the dinghy for a fishing trip. He was a great lover of the sea and loved his job at the dinghy rental in Cala Suaraccia, in the locality of Coda Cavallo, of which his father Domenico has been a dealer for several years.

The young man threw himself into the cavity, about six meters deep and with the water about three meters high, to try to save his little dog, who in turn may have accidentally fallen into the well to chase a cat. Both animals were in fact found on the bottom.

Danilo had been missing from home since yesterday afternoon and already in the early evening, family and friends, having no more news from him, began to worry. This morning, the boy's car was noticed outside the land owned by the family by his father who, approaching the well, immediately understood what had happened and alerted the rescue services.

This morning the Siniscola Fire Brigade team and the Nuoro Saf Nucleus (Alpine River Caving) and the Sassari Fire Brigade Scuba Divers intervened on the spot.

Also present were the Carabinieri of the San Teodoro lieutenancy. Around 3 pm, the Prosecutor of Nuoro, Ilaria Bradamante, arrived on the spot and authorized the operations to recover the young man's body, on which an autopsy was not ordered. The body of Danilo Sulas has been returned to the family.
