"The Cagliaritan tarantella will echo through the city streets", wrote the Municipality of Cagliari on its institutional Facebook page. Open heaven: the typical rhythm of the drums of the casteddaio true Carnival, the Ratantira, confused with a typical dance of the people of southern Italy. And the comments, of course, were anything but tender.

The text accompanied the announcement of the return of the party, every Saturday, in the streets of the historical centre. It unleashed a barrage of teases. Returned when the Municipality apologized for the error and thanked for the report, which led to the correction.

Controversy closed? Far from it. Because with the text there was also a photo. And to be portrayed are the representatives of Sa Ratantira Casteddaia: those who in this period practice with the drums in the streets of the center, to the rhythm of cambara and maccioni, to arrive at the explosion of colors of the parades. And they have nothing to do with the initiative of the Municipality, which has entrusted itself to other subjects. They are the "keepers of the carnival tradition" in the historic center of Cagliari.

From the association they write: «What does tradition mean? It means learned knowledge, handed down from those who preceded us, to be passed on to those who will come after us». So here is the attack: «Treating what you don't know with superficiality and without any knowledge is, as far as I'm concerned, a grave fault. The Cagliari Carnival is no exception, above all because it is a story that few know, and that very few, against everything and everyone, have cultivated and kept alive».
