The body of a man has been found off the coast of Olbia: according to initial investigations, he is Enrico Piras, the 63-year-old fisherman from Tortolì who lost his life in the shipwreck on February 11th in the waters off Santa Maria Navarrese.
A small chain worn by the man was also valuable for recognition.
The Tempio Prosecutor's Office (due to its territorial jurisdiction) is investigating the case, working closely with the Lanusei Prosecutor's Office. The operations are being conducted by the Olbia Port Authority.
The tragedy
Piras was aboard the Luigino, a trawler under the command of Antonio Morlè, whose body was never recovered from the sea, on which Antonio Lovicario, the only survivor, was also working.
The three had ventured out despite the rough seas, and the Luigino had been hit by violent waves, causing it to sink. Not far away was the Zeus, helmed by Morlè's brother, assisted by Piras's older brother. Despite their timely intervention, two people died. Piras had jumped into the sea before the vessel sank, having removed his clothes to try to stay afloat, but was swept away by the current.
