The Carabinieri had to intervene to restore power to Via S'Ecca S'arrideli in Quartu, where a woman, Antonella Angioni, had been at home for days with her husband's coffin awaiting cremation, without electricity since last Thursday.

"Only through the Carabinieri did they get our electricity back," Angioni says. "They found two teams of technicians down here and told them that my house was in an extreme situation, so they fixed the problem."

"It was a neighbor who called them because she saw we were really exhausted with this situation; we couldn't get by with the generator. We were in an extreme situation, we were desperate. And then the hot air that this generator was giving off was killing us. I thank the Carabinieri so much, and also whoever called them, because we wouldn't have gotten out of this situation."

The problems began on Thursday with the power cut, then on Friday with the death of Franco Cara, Angioni's husband , who had been placed in a coffin without internal lining as he was awaiting cremation.

Without power, there was a risk of it exploding, in addition to the odors it gave off. To stem the emergency, the family had been loaned a generator. And the disruptions due to the constant power outages continued yesterday until late evening in many streets, including Via Manara and Via Novaro. On Via Marconi, however, after the cabin transformer failed, the situation returned to normal.
