The announcement is there but no one applies: Castelsardo remains without a pediatrician

Castelsardo remains without a pediatrician.
The call for a replacement for Dr. Anna Giola , who retired in June after nearly 30 years of service, has in fact gone deserted .
This was communicated by the Municipality, in a note by the mayor Antonio Capula , which reads: “The administration has moved immediately to remedy the problem. The ASL management and the Sassari district gave immediate response to our requests, the notice was published immediately but, unfortunately, it went deserted. No one has applied for now, to take up service in Castelsardo ”.
“We have moved well in advance - specify by the Direction of the ASL and the Sassari District - given the lack of general practitioners and pediatricians of free choice which concerns the whole national territory. In fact, on March 18, 2022, the ASL of Sassari sent a note to the General Directorate of Health and to Ares in which it was specified how, between June and September, in the Sassari district, four professionals would retire and immediate seat coverage ".
The call was published on 18 July, for the conferral, in fact, of a provisional assignment of Free Choice Pediatrics - Area 8 - Castelsardo, Nulvi, SM Coghinas, Tergu, Valledoria, Viddalba, and other Municipalities, including Osilo, Sennori , Sorso, Mores, Ozieri, Porto Torres and Stintino. Unfortunately, the tender was deserted but the notice itself does not foresee a deadline for the submission of applications, therefore, in the event of the availability of some free choice pediatrician, the same can present his candidacy at any time, so as to fill the vacant seat .
"Unfortunately, this does not solve the problem for the citizens - underlines the mayor Antonio Capula - it only gives us the hope that some pediatrician will apply to be able to operate in our centers".
Furthermore, in order to reduce the inconvenience for the population, the Company Management of the Local Health Authority n. 1, has recently convened the permanent company committee for paediatrics with on the agenda also the lack of assistance and the evaluation of alternative solutions such as the possibility of derogating from the maximum number of registered pediatricians and also those with temporary assignment, so as to give an immediate, albeit provisional, response to local families.
"This solution also alleviates the discomfort of the Castellanesi families - concludes Capula - We therefore renew the appeal to pediatricians to come and serve in Castelsardo" .
