Rwm tries to comply. The company that owns the Domusnovas bomb factory – a local branch of the German Rheinmetall – has set the date for the public inquiry necessary to obtain the go-ahead for the environmental impact assessment on the expansions already carried out at the plant.

It means that the plants have already been enlarged, without going through the Via, which however was deemed necessary first by the Tar and then by the Council of State, which expressed itself in February. Therefore, to overcome the administrative illegitimacy, here is the request for ex post approval, foreseen by the regional procedures.

The mess arose when the technical offices of the Municipalities of Iglesias and Domusnovas had considered the "New R140 Test Field and New R200 and R210 Departments" as not forming parts of a single design. Technical passages had to establish whether or not the Rwm was or was not a chemical plant in which substances for explosives are produced: a fundamental passage to establish whether or not the Via was necessary. The judges ruled that the proceeding was an essential condition. And they rejected the now illegitimate enlargement. «You keep the decision, even if it is wrong», commented the managing director, Fabio Sgarzi.

The same manager who initiated the new "ex post" request for an Environmental Impact Assessment.

The meeting with the public, online, will be held on April 27th. Those who are against the expansion and the areas already built for testing explosives will be able to say so there or within the following twenty days.

Meanwhile, at the beginning of March, the trial against nine representatives of the company and of the municipal offices opened in the Court of Cagliari, accused of false ideology precisely because of their interventions at the center of the dispute ( HERE THE NEWS ).

The defendants are the managing director of the company that produces war weapons, Fabio Sgarzi, Leonardo Demarchi (RWM technical officer), Palmiro Palmas, Ignazio Pibia and Mauro Pompei (professionals appointed by RWM), Anna Rita Perseu and Lamberto Tomasi (officials of the Municipality of Iglesias), Elsa Ersilia Ghiani and Giuseppe Matzei (officials of the Municipality of Domusnovas).
