He took his final step yesterday, Sunday, at the finish line in Santa Teresa Gallura. Behind him were 470 days of walking, approximately eight thousand kilometers, and an Italy slowly traversed, from north to south, all the way to the islands. Luca Terenziani, a 44-year-old Venetian, thus concluded his long adventure on the CAI Sentiero Italia, letting slip, just a few hundred meters from the finish line at Buon Cammino, a phrase that encapsulates over fifteen months of toil and wonder: "The most beautiful trek of my life."

He set out on May 18, 2025, from Friuli-Venezia Giulia. Then came the Alps, the Apennines, Sicily, and finally Sardinia, the final stage of a journey along the great hiking trail that connects all twenty Italian regions. Awaiting him in Santa Teresa were representatives of the CAI Sardinia and the Sassari chapter, along with the city councilor for Tourism and Sport, Alessandro Alluttu. "We are deeply proud that his extraordinary adventure ended right here," he said.

But above all, Terenziani's story is about chosen solitude, the kind that becomes companionship. The birds in the morning, the crickets in the evening, the animals encountered along the trail, and the silence of the mountains. "You feel good with yourself; you feel good alone," he said. The mountains remain his favorite environment, and high altitude could be the destination of his next venture. Meanwhile, Sardinia has earned a special place on his journey: "It's a wonderful land, I'll return."
