A supermarket chain representative was arrested red-handed by the Carabinieri in Sassari for extortion.

According to the military's investigation, the man demanded that a food wholesaler pay him at least €1,250 a month to maintain a €300,000 supply contract with the supermarket chain he represented . This extortion scheme, carried out starting in November 2025, without the knowledge of the supermarket managers, netted him a total of €15,000.

The arrest was made last week: the officers stationed themselves outside the office of the extorted wholesaler, and when the suspect emerged with the envelope containing the last payment in his pocket, they stopped him and escorted him first to the police station, then, by order of the judicial authorities, to his residence, where he was placed under house arrest. The investigating judge of the Sassari Court subsequently confirmed the suspect's arrest.
