Those cartoons appearing on social media and some of the comments allegedly went far beyond normal debate. And, according to Suni Mayor Massimo Falchi, they are an insult to the municipal administration, so much so that the matter has ended up in the hands of the Public Prosecutor's Office.

Yesterday, the mayor filed a complaint to protect himself and the institution he represents. The document retraces the story that began last November , following the inauguration and naming of the public gardens on Via Tinnura after the physician and permanent deacon, Eugenio Corda. Shortly after the ceremony, several cartoons appeared on social media. "It was all too obvious that the reference was to the inauguration event and the blessing of the gardens," Mayor Falchi writes in the complaint, before moving on to the final act of the affair.

"After the procession in honor of the patron saint, Santa Maria della Neve, on August 5th, which I attended with the entire council," he explains, " another cartoon was published with a clear reference to me and Councilor Beatrice Mura." The comments and images, according to the mayor, are seriously defamatory. "Those posts are an attack on me and my institutional role," Falchi writes. "I cannot and will not ignore them any longer, which is why I am reporting the facts and filing a formal complaint against the author of the posts." The mayor intends to protect the institution he represents in particular. "Disrespect for institutions and a community must be condemned, " he explained. "We cannot leave the power to offend an entire community, which I have a duty to protect and defend, to the free will of one individual. Councilor Mura will also uphold the same values in the best interests of the institution."
