Great success for the exhibition “Every ship needs a port”, inaugurated in Porto Torres, in recent days, in the archaeological site Turris Libisonis Portus Sardiniae.
The area features 48 works by 24 artists who explore the concept of the port not only as a physical place but also as an ideal space in which life stories such as departures, arrivals, encounters, tragedies and salvations materialize. The exhibition, located in the ancient site of the Turritano port, can be visited every day from 9 am to 5 pm, and has welcomed many visitors, students and teachers, citizens and tourists.
In the next few days, workshops are planned for nursery, primary and lower secondary schools. After a guided tour through the exhibition spaces, the tourist guides and museum educators of Memoria Storica will lead a dialogue with the students to stimulate their creativity and provide them with the inspiration to create a project that represents their respective ideas of the port.
The exhibition, which can be visited until November 30, was created by the Municipality of Porto Torres , in collaboration with the Municipal Tourist Office and the Memoria Storica cooperative that manages it, with the aim of enhancing the area below the steps between the southern pier and the maritime station in which, in the early 2000s, investigations by the Superintendency for Archaeological Heritage led to the discovery of various Roman structures: port constructions, buildings with mosaic floors, canalization systems, wells and remains of the road network that connected the port with the center and the rural villas.
