The elderly woman who was bitten by a tick in recent days died late in the morning.
The pensioner, a 70-year-old from Ulassai , had been hospitalized for four days in intensive care at the Lanusei hospital following a serious infection caused by the sting, rickettsiosis .
She had arrived at the hospital last June 2, when the clinical picture was already very serious : very high fever, headache, fatigue, muscle and joint pain.
A few days earlier she had realized that she had the insect on her skin, she had immediately got rid of it but not feeling any symptoms she hadn't given it too much weight .
However, the situation worsened over the days, until diagnosis and hospitalization. The therapies were immediately administered, but the old woman from Ulassai never responded to treatment and died today in the late morning.
