It will take much longer than the Anas timetable to complete the renovation work on the stretch of road that connects Olbia to Monte Pino , which collapsed during the November 2013 flood, causing the death of three people.
Presumably by September, Anas will complete the work on the route it is responsible for, but what remains an unknown factor are the times for the construction of the other section of provincial road 38 , about six kilometres, which fall precisely under the responsibility of the Province and which are still in the planning stage.
This morning the regional councilor for Public Works, Pierluigi Saiu , held a meeting in the headquarters of the Province of Sassari which was attended by the mayors of the Municipalities of Alta Gallura, the sub commissioner of the former Province of Olbia-Tempio, Pietro Carzedda , and representatives of the Monte Pino Civic Committee.
From the discussion that also took place in the presence of technicians and engineers, it emerged that the entire arterial road should be classified from category F to category C1, and therefore with the widening of the carriageway from the current 7.5 meters to 10.5 , and the safety of the ten hydraulic crossings along the route. All with an extension of the construction times, at least 22 months starting from the assignment of the work and with costs up to approximately 18 million. Money that, according to what Councilor Saiu said, the Region would have no problem finding and allocating. There are only six in stock so far.
«We are happy that the Region is giving a strong push in this sense, - commented Carlo Duilio Vitti, mayor of Sant'Antonio di Gallura - but together with the committee we fear for the lengthening of the construction times . Ten years have already passed since the flood and we don't want times to expand further, which is why we ask for certain clarifications on the start and end dates of the works ». The greatest perplexities came from the Monte Pino committee, represented by Giuseppina Pasella.
The mayors of Tempio Pausania and Olbia, Gianni Addis and Settimo Nizzi, were in favor of the decision to widen the entire roadway.
