«Stop the military occupation of the island, yes to peace»: the A Foras demonstration in Cagliari
Over 500 activists in the square: «Here like every 2nd June. The Republic considers us a land to be exploited, let's say enough"The flags of the Four Moors wave together with those of Palestine while activists continue to gather in Piazza San Bartolomeo in Cagliari for the demonstration organized by A Foras , the movement fighting against the military occupation of Sardinia , also with its flags.
" Like every June 2nd, A Foras is in the square ." Opening the procession ready to head towards Poetto , the banner of the organizing committee and a huge peace flag . Over five hundred activists took to the streets today. «The date of June 2nd is symbolic: we reclaim the day on which the Italian Republic is celebrated, which considers our land an area from which to profit , using it as it pleases and adapting it to different armies, energy multinationals and to the richest people in the world,” say the organizers.
« 66% of Italian military property is located on our island , but the rest of Sardinia is also used by the military: in Teulada, Quirra and Capo Frasca there are the largest firing ranges in Europe, but military occupation also persists on other towns and cities, increasing more and more every day, without stopping, as we see for example in the confiscated land and in the coastal areas banned militarily, to make possible the construction of the Tyrrhenian link or in the famous Cpr, monitored on sight by the army".
