Not very abstract, very concrete – and with mutual satisfaction – the deal that concluded between Richard Widmaier Picasso, nephew of Pablo, and Renato Soru. The former bought the villa of Is Cuccureddus, in Villasimius, that the founder of Tiscali had purchased and renovated in 2003: 600 square meters covered, close to the beach, surrounded by olive groves, vineyards and an English lawn.

The price on which the agreement was found is 15.5 million euros. A smooth negotiation, the one conducted in the past weeks with the mediation of John Bracco of the company Waterfront Italy Real Estate, culminating with the deed signed in Cagliari before the notary Antonio Galdiero.

Picasso landed in Sardinia and immediately fell in love with Soru's property. For his part, he had a strong interest in selling: the auction of his house in Bonaria, Cagliari, had been set for Tuesday 10 June, with a starting price of just over 4 million euros. A procedure that had been started by virtue of the debts contracted by the former president of the Region with Banca Intesa due to a mortgage of seven million that had not been honoured. With the sale of the villa in Is Cuccureddus, Soru has recovered a good supply of liquidity that could be used to save his Cagliari home and block the auction.

A significant sum, 15.5 million, which deviates (downward) from what the former president had tried to achieve in 2012: then the villa on the sea had been put up for sale by Sotheby's Real Estate for the price of 24 million. No buyer came forward. Now the one enjoying that exclusive stretch of coast will be Pablo Picasso's nephew.
