Another anti-drug operation was carried out by the Carabinieri of the Macomer company, who in recent days seized a large marijuana plantation in the countryside of Sindia.

A 34-year-old man, resident in the town, was arrested on charges of illegal cultivation of narcotics.

The discovery was made during a territorial control operation by the Carabinieri of Sindia , supported by the soldiers of the Sardinian Hunters Helicopter Squadron and other departments of the Company.

The investigation was triggered by a strong suspicious odor, noticed by the soldiers during a search of the countryside near the town.

Subsequent investigations led to the identification of a plot of land linked to the arrested man, where the officers discovered a plantation of 2,210 marijuana plants, arranged in 36 rows. The plants, between 40 and 100 centimeters tall, were equipped with a drip irrigation system fed by two 1,000-liter tanks.

According to analyses conducted by the Cagliari RIS, the drug was cannabis indica with an active ingredient (THC) between 3 and 10%, significantly exceeding the permitted limits for industrial cultivation. The total weight of the seized substance is estimated at over two tons.

This is the second major seizure in Sindia in just a few months: last June, the Carabinieri of the Macomer Company had identified another plantation with 300 plants and arrested two people in flagrante delicto.
