The silo was torn open, the acidic water inside spilled everywhere, right down to the dozens of lithium batteries stored next to it.

Some are talking about a near-miss in reference to the accident that occurred last Wednesday inside the Enel power plant in Portovesme. Fortunately, only a minor injury was reported to a worker who was nearby, on board a vehicle. But the amateur video that we are publishing reveals a scenario that suggests possible much worse consequences.

The batteries, according to what we learn - some were overturned - were moved after the event. While the possible environmental damage is still to be quantified.

The day after the accident, the unions had called a strike: "Only for a purely fortuitous case we are not talking about yet another tragedy at work", the territorial secretariats of Fiom, Fsm and Uilm had attacked, "we consider what happened to be extremely serious and invite the competent authorities and institutions to carry out the necessary checks and controls foreseen, calling Enel to its responsibilities".

Silence seemed to have fallen on the matter. Until now.
