It was 8.10 this morning when, on the 131 - at the junction for Siligo -, a commando composed of at least 10 hooded people attacked a column of three Vigilpol armored vans transporting cash.

THE COMMANDO - They were hooded and wore camouflage, bulletproof jackets and were armed with Kalashnikovs. In a few minutes an inferno of bullets was unleashed.

Five security guards were injured : one was hit in the leg by a bullet, the others bruised following the collision with a waste compactor truck, used by the bandits to block the armored vehicles from moving forward.

THE RECONSTRUCTION – After blocking the Carlo Felice in both directions of travel, the criminals – according to what was reported by the Flying Squad of the Sassari Police Headquarters – stopped the vehicles and threatened the motorists with Kalashnikovs, then sprinkled the asphalt with nails and laid out some chains.

THE CHOC VIDEO:

About two kilometers from the blocks, they waited for the arrival of the armored vehicles: they blocked their road towards Cagliari with a waste truck into which the first of the three Vigilpol armored vehicles crashed. The bandits opened fire on the vehicles, hitting one of the security guards in the legs. Another security guard, who was driving the first armored vehicle, was seriously injured following the collision with the compactor and the collision of the other two vehicles. The other security guards were bruised on the head and chest, again due to the collision.

THE ESCAPE – Having opened the safes of two of the three vans with the use of circular metal saws, the bandits escaped with the loot which, until now, has not been quantified.

To cover their escape they set fire to two vehicles. They got into a pick-up and a Fiat Panda heading towards Mores, both vehicles were found shortly afterwards, set on fire, a few kilometers from the site of the raid.

Along a provincial road that runs along the 131, another burnt car was found and nearby a bag with explosives , defused by the State Police bomb squad.

The anti-robbery plan was launched throughout Sardinia with checkpoints set up everywhere and with the use of helicopters. But there is no trace of the commando.
