Sfirs President Must Pay 266,000 Euros, Todde: "Resignation Appropriate"

"The evaluation of a step back by Dr. Tonino Chironi is considered extremely appropriate." The request comes from Alessandra Todde, president of the Sardinia Region, in a joint note with the Budget Councilor, Giuseppe Meloni. A direct invitation to the president of Sfirs, 72 years old and originally from Orani, sentenced yesterday by the Court of Auditors to have to reimburse the credit institution for 266,538 euros, for the compensation collected since 2021 despite being retired .
Sfirs is an in-house company of the Region and therefore considered a public body in all respects. The state prosecutors had highlighted how Chironi, appointed in September 2019 and with an extension that arrived in the same month of 2022, would no longer be able to receive the allowance - of 90,000 euros per year - starting from January 1, 2021, the date on which he went on seniority retirement . This is because a state law expressly prohibits combining it with public allowances (with the exception of elected positions).
Yesterday the Court, presided over by Judge Donata Cabras, issued its ruling, which speaks of "conduct undoubtedly characterized by malice" . In the joint note by Todde and Meloni, it is added that "following the ruling of the Court of Auditors on the actions of the president of Sfirs Chironi, the structures of the Region are verifying all the legal aspects concerning the affair and the actions of the president up to this moment".
