«Excuse me, what I wrote is not worthy of a mayor or a common person. I don't use social media well and I thought it was a message directed only to the person who wrote the post, not to be written anyway".
The tone of the mayor of Tonara Pierpaolo Sau is contrite, overwhelmed by the controversies and requests for resignation for a statement published on social networks, in which he proposed a remedy against depopulation: «All free women are obliged to go to the office of the mayor three hours apart from each other». A thought, his, expressed in 2010 and relaunched yesterday under a reflection on the demographic drama reported by Gigi Littarru, former mayor of Desulo.
Now Sau, after having removed that "unfortunate joke", tries to remedy it. And he explains: «It concerned an episode and jokes from twelve years ago with female presence in the group: logically they were only exaggerations that are formulated in joking contexts where the ».
In short: a (grave) bar joke, reported on social media, without thinking about the consequences, perhaps because it was not taken into account: «I have never been disrespectful in this way and I have always thought that the female presence is decisive in all problems », underlines the mayor, so much so that «in the councils I have appointed I have always requested the presence of women». Not only that: «I have almost always voted for a woman in all levels of elections. I am the father of two girls who I adore and adore me. My interventions, especially on the decline in births in our territories, have always been energetic and determined".
Then again the apologies, ending between bitterness and a pinch of irony: «I apologize to anyone who has felt or felt offended. Unfortunately, like many in this difficult area, I am used to joking too much and I assure you that I usually joke about my misfortunes».
