Tomorrow morning, coroner Professor Roberto Demontis will carry out an expert examination on the body of Cremona paratrooper Simone Bacchiega , 51 years old from Cremona, who died yesterday at the Serdiana airfield . The Carabinieri of the Dolianova Company, coordinated by Captain Luca Delle Vedove, are meanwhile completing all the investigations into the incident for Judge Gilberto Ganassi.
As is known, according to an initial reconstruction by the Carabinieri of Dolianova, the man apparently jumped from an altitude of approximately 4,000 meters. During the final stages of the descent, having reached a few dozen meters above the ground, he performed a sudden turn. This movement may have caused an anomaly in the flight path, causing him to lose control of the glider and plummet to the ground. Rescue efforts, which continued for 40 minutes, were unsuccessful.
There was deep mourning at the airfield and among all the paratroopers in Sardinia. His friends all called him "Cimo." Simone Bacchiega was associated with the Cremona Sky Team and was often seen at Migliaro Airport. He was also a boxing instructor. He was a craftsman: he worked for a company specializing in ready-to-use home furnishings, minor maintenance, and construction work.
