A family beating. A father and his three sons were sentenced today in a summary trial in Sassari on charges of assault, damage, and possession of offensive weapons, and one of them also of making death threats. The defendants are aged 58, 35, 32, and 23.

The victim was a 48-year-old man from Sassari who, according to the accusations, was attacked by the four in Sennori in 2024.

The reconstruction of events: one of the family members—the 35-year-old—rammed the 48-year-old's parked car several times, attempted to run him over, and then held a knife to his throat, threatening to kill him. Then his father and brothers arrived, smashed some of the car's windows with sticks, and, armed with them and an axe, attacked the man, repeatedly striking him. The victim suffered two fractured ribs and several broken teeth, caused in particular by a blow to the face with a club, for a total prognosis of 45 days.

The victim's lawyer, Mario Spanu, requested €30,000 in damages for his client, an amount awarded by preliminary hearing judge Gian Paolo Piana. The preliminary hearing judge sentenced all four defendants, represented by Sara Dettori, Vilia Fiorillo, Elias Vacca, and Gianni Calaresu. He handed down a three-year sentence for the 35-year-old, and two years and six months for the other three. The prosecutor was Gianni Caria.
