After a few weeks of relative calm, security alert is once again on in Marmilla . Thieves' raids have resumed in the countryside and small villages, with weapons always in their sights: in recent days, four hunting rifles were stolen from a house in Baradili.
The thieves broke into the home of a small businessman in Baradili and took away the weapons: four hunting rifles, legally owned and stored. The police are already working to try to find the rifles and trace those responsible for the umpteenth theft that increases widespread apprehension among the population of Marmilla.
Also because the episodes of petty crime are now repeated over time. Only a few weeks ago thieves had entered into action in Albagiara taking away a hunting rifle; previously there had been an attempted theft in Baressa but the robbery had not been successful because the double-barreled guns were well guarded. And still thefts of jewels and money, incursions in the countryside and agricultural companies but also thefts of cars, robberies in bars and damage to video surveillance systems.
A rather heated situation, so much so that even local administrators had asked for increased controls and a few weeks ago it was also discussed during a meeting of the Provincial Committee for Order and Security. Prefect Salvatore Angieri has ordered the so-called "high impact controls", coordinated inter-force services that have mobilized the Carabinieri, Police and Guardia di Finanza that have led to some complaints but it is still not enough. One of the hypotheses is that in the vast territory of Marmilla there could be a network of criminals linked to gangs from other areas of the Island, in particular those specialized in assaults on armored vehicles.
