There is no talk of restarting the collection of sea urchins, blocked for three years. But the systems for the distribution of refreshments among the workers in the sector left on the ground will be changed. This is what emerged from the session of the Productive Activities commission of the regional council, which today tackled the issue of the ricciai dispute and the announcement that involves them.

Agris leaders and technicians were also heard in the parliament. Among them was Nicola Fois, who in the agency is in charge of the fish research service: "The scientific monitoring was clear: the situation of our sea is dramatic", he said, "the sea urchin population has drastically reduced and, in some points (Alghero, the Gulf of Cagliari and some areas of the Oristano area), there will hardly be a recovery. All those interested in monitoring have deemed it appropriate to block the withdrawals ". Block necessary therefore, for Agris, to be confirmed without ifs and buts.

Unconvinced of the goodness of the decision Gesuino Banchero, heard on behalf of professional fishermen, who according to the current announcement will receive about 6000 euros for the missed work, but will have to be engaged in monitoring activities of the sea conditions in agreement with the Region and Agris .

"After the expenses for fuel, sureties and compulsory insurance we will have about 3,000 euros left", he explained, "at this point it is better to snatch the license and ask for the citizenship income".

Same consideration by Giacomo Bilancetta (Gies Oristano): "The refreshments provided are inadequate", he said, "our annual income depends on this activity. We are entitled to fair compensation".

According to the fishermen, the decision to stop the collection of sea urchins for three years should also be reviewed: "Who said that with the stop the seas will be repopulated?" , is Banchero's question, "the blockade favors illegal fishermen and feeds the illegal market . It is better to think of another type of regulation, shortening the fishing period and providing four days of activity a week instead of seven".

The regional councilors present, with the Councilor for Agriculture Gabriella Murgia, assured that the regulation on refreshments will be changed.
