The Sassari Wayfarers' Guild will be received by Pope Leo XIV tomorrow at the Vatican . This is a return following the meeting on June 4, 2017 , when Pope Francis requested permission to venerate the statue of Our Lady of Good Way, so beloved by the people of Sassari.

The Viandanti delegation will appear in full regalia and will be accompanied by Fabio Madau, president of the Intergremio, and Councilor Maria Francesca Fantato, representing the metropolitan mayor. This will be a useful opportunity to strengthen relations between the Vatican and the ancient association devoted to Our Lady of the Good Way.

The audience was requested a few months ago by both the Guild and the diocesan administrator, Monsignor Antonio Tamponi, who, however, will remain in the city due to pastoral and institutional commitments. The corporation will present a gift on behalf of the entire city to the Pope, an Augustinian, just as the Confraternity of BuonCammino, founded by the Sons of St. Augustine in 1477, is also Augustinian.

The mayor of Muros, Federico Tolu, will also be present, due to the town's shared devotion to the Gremio. The Marquises of Montemuros, who have always lived in Sassari, donated the statue to the Gremio in 1886. Therefore, their descendant Laura Manunta Martinez will be present.
