Stealing 95 cents can result in €300 in damages. It happened on the night between Saturday and Sunday on Viale Trieste in Sassari, at the Bùca pizzeria.

Unknown assailants broke the glass, first using a rock and then kicking it. Once inside, they opened the cash register and found, indeed, less than a euro.

"It's disconcerting," says owner Alessandro Renna. "I messed up my life to open the pizzeria five months ago, and now I have to put up with thefts."

Renna, 33, will now have to pay for the damage and hire a locksmith. "This street is becoming increasingly rundown. They keep breaking into cars, and no nice people are around. We need more enforcement," he concludes.

State Police patrol cars are on site and are now investigating to identify the person or persons responsible.
