They had already taken the safe and were ready to load it into a car parked outside. But the criminals who attempted the big heist at the “Tutti daily” supermarket in Predda Niedda, in Sassari, had to deal with the surveillance systems installed by the Alarm System institute, which forced them to give up.

The raid occurred just before 1.30am. Three entered the shop and loaded the safe. But the security institute's operations center received the alarm from the anti-intrusion system. The cameras made it possible to verify the suspicious movements and the call to the police was made, while the security guard was directed to the scene.

The three thieves noticed the presence of the security guard and fled empty-handed in the vehicle (identified by its license plate number and found to be stolen) which was later found burnt thirty kilometers from Sassari.
