The construction of the new Maternal-Infant pavilion of the University Hospital of Sassari, which has been awaited by Northern Sardinia for seven years, began today with the laying of the first stone.

The ceremony was attended by regional institutions and the heads of the AOU. The new pavilion will be a modern and highly specialized structure that will guarantee excellent care for mothers and children. The project was presented in the square where the new pavilion will be built (formerly Palazzo Rosso, demolished six years ago). The works were introduced by engineer Roberto Manca , director of the Planning and Technological Innovation structure of the AOU of Sassari.

"Today we are not just witnessing a symbolic act, but a concrete commitment to the community," said the general director of the Aou of Sassari, Antonio Lorenzo Spano . "The creation of this pavilion represents the construction of a better future, in which our healthcare will be increasingly able to respond to the challenges of modernity and humanity."

The intervention, financed with regional and national funds, is part of a broader strategy to modernize the health facilities of the AOU of Sassari.
The new building will house the operating units of Obstetrics and Gynecology , the gynecological and obstetric emergency room , Neonatology with an enhancement of the areas dedicated to neonatal intensive care and birth pathways. It will also house Pediatrics, the Nursery and the pediatric emergency room , Pediatric Cardiology , Pediatric Surgery and Child Neuropsychiatry .
