The celebrations dedicated to the Gremio degli Autoferrotranvieri will end today in Sassari, at 6.30 pm. It began last Saturday with the Solemn Vespers and continued yesterday with the Great Festival, which saw the procession of the simulacrum of San Cristoforo, patron saint of the corporation, accompanied by all the congregation. Yesterday morning, however, the investiture was held, with the intregu ceremony, of the new major obriere, a role now held by Antonio Oggiano. Passage occurred at the end of the Eucharistic celebration officiated by Father Salvatore Sanna and animated by the “Lachesos” choir of Mores.

«It was a year of passion and faith - reports Carlo Gaspa, the outgoing obriere - I worked to keep our association together and now we can say we are a Gremio». A large crowd participated yesterday in the passage of the saint along the usual route from the cathedral of San Nicola, the setting for the three public holidays, along the streets of the centre, Corso Vittorio Emanuele, Piazza Mazzotti and back to the cathedral.

And now the Autoferrotranvieri, the youngest association among all those that will parade at the Discesa dei Candelieri, anxiously await the moment of the Faradda, and the dissolution of the Vow to the Madonna, scheduled for August 14th. «We all have - continues Gaspa - the desire to reach the foot of the Assumption». Tonight the end of the celebrations, again in the cathedral, with the celebration of the mass in honor of the deceased.
