Hectares of abandonment. The Rosello valley, the green lung of Sassari , has long since become a no man's land where the remains of heroin and crack consumption are visible everywhere . Between syringes, blood, garbage, and human organic waste, the scene is one of great degradation.
"In the dark - says a local resident - it is very dangerous to enter, in fact it is not recommended."
At night the spaces fill up with vagrants, drug addicts and various ill-intentioned people ready to take what does not belong to them.
"They tried to occupy my garden," says Mauro, a resident, "they threw bottles and stones."
But the most disturbing episode dates back to two weeks ago when a stranger attempted to enter an apartment using scaffolding and was chased away by the residents.
"They pierce themselves and mate even in broad daylight," those who live nearby report about the presences that roam the valley. And there is no shortage of relics such as the blanket in which a person who died of an overdose some time ago was wrapped, a blanket swallowed up by creepers.
"We are asking for a cleanup and more control - says Mauro - many neighborhoods could benefit from this green area".
Meanwhile, politics is moving with city councilor Pietro Pedoni of Fratelli d'Italia who will present a motion on the matter in the city council.
"We need safety measures, clean-up - he reports - lighting, video surveillance, and scheduled closures. I will ask for it in the council chamber because that is what all citizens want."
