A heated exchange between Confindustria national president Emanuele Orsini and Sardinia governor Alessandra Todde.
"If the regional president is unable to identify an area where he can place wind turbines or photovoltaic systems , because he says, 98% of Sardinia's land is protected, I believe someone needs to decide for him because he doesn't know how to do it," Orsini stated during his speech at the Confindustria Emilia Area Centro assembly.
Todde's response was immediate: "I found your statements ungrammatical from an institutional perspective, because I am an elected President and I represent Sardinia."
"Confindustria," Todde added, "advances the legitimate interests of its sector. I have the task of planning the territory and finding rules that respect, enhance, and sustain it. And it's clear that these choices may not meet the needs of the sector that President Orsini represents. But this is Orsini's problem, not the President of Sardinia. One percent of our territory, which covers approximately 24,000 square kilometers, represents a surface area far greater than the entire country has dedicated to the development of renewables. So, before saying it's very little, and before claiming we're slowing down or blocking renewables, please learn more about what we've made available and the plants that are currently moving forward because they've rightly received a positive assessment. And above all," the governor concluded, "understand one thing: he is the president of Confindustria, I am the President of the Region. The task of protecting and enhancing my territory is mine, not yours."
