A new text message scam has emerged in northwest Sardinia. The Sassari Local Health Authority (ASL) has reported the incident, having learned that, in recent days, residents have been receiving text messages on their cell phones asking them to urgently call the "Vaccination Center."
The body of the text also includes a number—+3989347721—to call "to receive an important communication." "This communication," the health authority reports, "does not come from the health authority itself, which advises citizens to be wary of messages of this nature, which most likely represent a telephone scam from a number with the 893, 894, or 895 prefix."
"A subterfuge," the ASL continues, "to have people call a premium rate number, which quickly drains their credit."
The advice, in these cases, is that given by the Postal Police: pay maximum attention and do not be misled by similar communications, do not call the suggested numbers, do not open any attachments, and do not link to any addresses.
