The smell of sewage and decay. The ERP buildings on Via Rockefeller, numbers 39 and 41, were built over 30 years ago and have seen little maintenance . This was also confirmed by the inspections carried out by the Municipality, which, in its final report, spoke of a "mediocre state of conservation" and "advanced state of decay" for several parts of the buildings, as well as a "potential danger to public safety."

From these premises, the extraordinary maintenance project is taking shape, which has reached its first stage in recent days. The Heritage and Housing Policies sector has given the green light to the Design Guidelines Document, and a €320,000 budget has been allocated for the construction site, which will address critical issues with, among other things, terraces, gutters, railings, and entrance doors .

Last month, technicians actually already carried out an initial safety upgrade, removing sections of plaster and concrete and applying passivating agent to the reinforcing rods. "We're also having trouble," says Giovanni Coroforo , president of the Rizzeddu-Monserrato committee, "with leaks, which are everywhere."

Particularly in the entrance halls, where, among other things, the humidity has caused an electrical system to fail. Added to this is the "sewage smell." This unbearable stench, reported to the mayor and the relevant councilor, Patrizia Mercuri, is due to a street drain. Abbanoa reports that the problem stems from the condominium connections, which lack siphons to block the odors. The company guarantees its availability to install them and resolve at least one problem quickly.
