A jolly romp unleashed today in Sassari. April 1st , and the inevitable fish traditionally associated with the month, is being celebrated with a series of signs appearing at various university campuses and along the city's main streets . The slogans stretch from Via delle Sconce to Via Usai il Cerere, all the way to the large target at the Emiciclo Garibaldi, nicknamed "Emiciccio."
The prank was perpetrated by the Turritana Goliardic Association, which, on the night between March 31st and April 1st, replaced the names of streets and squares with comical signs. Last year, fake fines were the focus.
This year, however, the Association announced, "the choice fell on a lighter and more creative prank, based on the game of urban toponymy, with the aim of surprising and entertaining citizens."
The signs also include a QR code which, according to the Goliards led by their Pope, Gabriella Piga, leads to a dedicated page where the nature of the initiative as an April Fool's joke is clarified and where it is possible to symbolically contribute to the Goliards' "moral and alcoholic value".
Among the references there is also one connected to internal tradition: among the plaques a street dedicated to the Pontifex Maximus Anda I Maxima Aurea has been included, located in Viale Adua .
The Turritana Goliardic Association's initiatives don't stop here: the next event is scheduled for April 26th in Fertilia, with the IX Bathtub Regatta.
