The Supreme Court of Cassation upheld a seven-year prison sentence for sexual assault, kidnapping, assault, and domestic violence against a former prison officer stationed in Bancali.
The disputed incident dates back to 2022 when the man, according to the accusations, pretended to be someone else on Instagram, went to his ex-partner's house and broke into the apartment at gunpoint.
The man, originally from Naples and over 40, had forced the woman to have sexual intercourse. Only later did the victim manage to leave, promising not to report the incident.
Maria Francesca Tripaldi, the man's lawyer, had appealed to the second instance judgment, complaining about the failure to notify the appeal proceedings.
The Supreme Court also rejected the other two grounds, one alleging a flawed reasoning and the other alleging kidnapping, which, according to the appellant, was a consequence of sexual assault. The civil plaintiff was represented by attorney Brunilda Sanna Mucaj.
