Sassari: Man runs away to avoid a fine and hits a local police officer.

He didn't want to be fined after committing a traffic violation, so today in Sassari, in St. Peter's Square, a driver stepped on the accelerator and hit the woman when a local police officer asked him to stop and show his documents.

The officer was hit in the side by the car's mirror and had to seek emergency medical care.

The driver of the car was stopped by other local police officers present on the scene and then reported for resisting a public official, assault, and refusal to provide information about his personal identity.
