«Radiotherapy in Sassari is at risk».

The alarm was sounded by the Free Women in the Struggle for the Right to Health movement, in a note, which reads: «In Sassari, as in all of Sardinia, in all areas, there is a serious shortage of radiology, and little or nothing is done to find a solution . The concern of the patients of the Radiotherapy of Sassari is growing, who signal to us in many * the non-renewal of the assumption of command of a technician that the Radiotherapy would lose, causing many problems for those who carry out this indispensable life-saving therapy ".

«At the moment - continues the Movement - there are no signals from the Health Directorate either of new recruitments through competition, even if the times would still be very long, or of replacements of the precious element already in service. Radiotherapy for the AOU of Sassari is a "pillar service", with the Dh and Oncology, for the treatment of tumors for the whole Province, which is therefore heading once again towards a condition of serious disservice and discomfort (which we hoped resolved), both for patients and for the few operators who remained after the retirement or the expired contract of others *".

The Free Women in the Fight for the Right to Health movement therefore wonders «why deprive yourself of an already trained operator without first having found a valid replacement for him, and what prevents the Health Administration from reappointing the same technician. What, if you think, are the alternative solutions he proposes».

"The fact remains - concludes the Movement - that concern is growing among people suffering from cancer also because, at present, the very few health facilities in northern Sardinia, both public and private, are saturated, and the risk of skipping the precious therapy becomes more concrete every day . Will we have to resort once again to "journeys of hope" for this too?».
