A fire broke out this morning inside the primary school in via Cilea, in Sassari. The alarm was raised shortly after 7 by the school operator when he opened the institute in the Santa Maria di Pisa district.

The flames, of malicious origin, were set among some furnishings. The children from the summer camp who are currently attending school - around twenty - had not yet entered: they were all transferred to a nearby gym.

Local police officers and firefighters intervened on site.

According to initial rumours, the cause of the fire was probably vandals who entered around 5 in the morning from an external door and set fire to a cupboard with around a hundred books, destroying it.
