Bomb scare in Sassari.

What initially appeared to be a war relic, a hand grenade from the Second World War, was found in the meter compartment inside a building on Via Arborea.

It was discovered by firefighters who responded to a water leak in the building.

Arriving at the scene, right in the historic center, the bomb squad determined that it was an inert replica of a bomb: a perfect reproduction of an American MK2 grenade , which is freely available and obviously harmless.

The alarm has now been called off, and further investigations are underway. Carabinieri, firefighters, and local police are present.
