"The barriers on Viale Mazzini in Sassari will be removed before the Cavalcata Sarda." This was announced yesterday by the City Council's Director General, Antonio Spano , before the first commission at the Palazzo Ducale.
This could soon bring an end to a situation that has persisted for 18 years, since a section of sidewalk, located almost directly opposite the courthouse, was closed due to an ongoing dispute between the municipality and a condominium. It was necessary to cordon off the area to prevent water damage and in preparation for work that would have resolved the issues.
Until a few months ago, the city and private parties had yet to reach an agreement on the costs, but recently there has been a push to resolve the issue. "The officials asked me by what year I wanted the barriers removed," Spano said. "I said this year, before the Cavalcata Sarda." The Sassari event is scheduled for May 15-17.
