More than a hundred people demonstrated yesterday in Sassari “against the gherra”.

An initiative promoted by the citizens' collective "Cùleziu" which brings together various local associations.

"We want to fight - declared Elisa Brau, spokesperson - the capitalist, imperialist, Zionist system and their expressions, that is, the military and the forces of law and order that we constantly experience in Sassari". The procession, which crossed the historic center from Piazza Università to Corso Vico up to Piazza Castello, was the response to yesterday's armed forces celebration and to what is considered "a war narrative".

The main request is for “a Demilitarized Sardinia in Solidarity with the Palestinian People” together with a no to the “militarization of popular neighborhoods as a response to social hardship” and to bill 1660.

The executive's bill, which creates new crimes, including those related to demonstrations, and increases the sanctions on some existing ones, is one of the targets of those present.

“The answer to problems is not to control our lives - continues Elisa - the solution is to give life to culture, to sociality, to the well-being of people. And control is not synonymous with well-being”.
