The trial for the 22 deaths at Casa Serena , which occurred between February and April 2020 during the Covid emergency, opened today in the Sassari court.

All witnesses were admitted by the panel chaired by Giancosimo Mura, with Sara Pelicci and Stefania Mosca-Angelucci on the side. The civil parties named the Municipality as the party responsible for the civil action, which appeared with the insurance company and lawyer Nicola Satta.

At the next hearing, scheduled for May 27, the three consultants for the party, Drs. Salvatore Lorenzoni, Francesco Serra, and Angela Seddaiu, will be heard.

The defendants in the trial, charged with multiple manslaughter and negligent epidemic, are Francesca Chessa, president of Coopas, which at the time managed the municipal-owned facility on Via Pasubio, and Marco Sannino, head of prevention and protection services for the cooperative . The two are represented by lawyers Liliana Pintus, Luigi Esposito, and Marco Manca. The prosecution is represented by prosecutor Paolo Piras.
