Two people were convicted today in court in Sassari for the combined theft of 128 paintings. According to the charges, six people entered a city art gallery in 2017, stealing works by renowned Sardinian masters such as Costantino Spada, Salvatore Delitala, and Umberto Spera. After stealing the works, they also stole several alcoholic beverages.

During the hearing, prosecutor Andrea Giganti had requested two years for each defendant, but Judge Caterina Serra instead sentenced a 65-year-old and a 55-year-old, both from Sassari, to one year each. The other four were acquitted, either because they did not commit the crime or because they were incompetent at the time of the incident. Defending the accused were lawyers Marco Palmieri, Elisabetta Udassi, Marco Manca, Marco Cubeddu, and Giuseppe Onorato.
