Few smiles, due to emotion. Leonardo Buschettu, 8 years old, will be playing the role of su componidoreddu of the Sartiglietta di canna of Oristano on February 23 , in Sant'Efisio, the historic district of Su Brugu.

This morning, immediately after mass, in the parish hall where the rushes transformed into cane horses are already on display, his name was drawn by lot by Don Alessandro Floris, in front of a large crowd.

For little Leonardo, a dream come true. Two little women will help him: Azzurra Piccaredda, 7 years old, in second place, and Aurora Petucco, 9 years old, in third place.

The ceremony was accompanied by the mini drummers and mini trumpeters of the Pro Loco of Oristano. A heart-stopping extraction with many behind-the-scenes events, also attended by the mayor of Oristano Massimiliano Sanna. The first child drawn was in fact Matteo Onida who, however, gave up because he had been kissed by luck last year too. Then the very small Marco Corona Trogu was drawn. However, due to too much emotion, he decided to give up the assignment.

The Sartiglietta di canna has been organized by the Association for the protection and increase of cane horses for over 30 years, led by president Giancarlo Mureddu. An event that attracts many children every year.

Meanwhile, in the parish hall of Su Brugu, now transformed into a “stable”, the preparation of the reed horses continues in view of the big day. Children have always tried to imitate the horses of the Sartiglia, the real ones, their idols. However, everything will take place in miniature and with carnival costumes.

This morning, for the occasion, the painting created by Tito Sedda was also presented, his way of telling the story of the event, the dream of many children.
