The Sardinian Port Authority called the Financial Times to try to relaunch itself on the global market.
The resolution signed by President Domenico Bagalà is dated December 24th. The purpose of the measure is evident in its subject line: "Awarding of the study necessary to define the strategies, projects, and infrastructure to be implemented to generate lasting economic benefits" for the institution.
The cost hasn't been determined yet, as the task of closing the deal has been entrusted to marketing manager Valeria Mangiarotti. However, the estimated fee is around €140,000.
The resolution states that "in order to plan future interventions and promote the institution in a way that will also attract foreign investors, it is necessary to conduct an in-depth study" of all necessary elements.
The need, according to the documents, arises from an assessment of the untapped potential of the island's ports: "Sardinia has strategic assets (its location on the East-West Mediterranean corridor, incentives from the Single Economic Zone and the Cagliari Free Zone, etc.) but it lacks a strategic and operational tool for attracting investment that would allow it to identify the best market solutions , with a high level of innovation and a strong impact in terms of revenue."
To understand this, it's considered necessary to rely on a highly specialized firm. This firm, which isn't available on the Mepa platform, is selected through a direct award: FT Locations, part of the Financial Times Group, has already submitted its bid and is described as a "global leader in the sector, boasting vertical expertise and proprietary databases (including fDi Benchmark and fDi Markets), as well as methodologies and international success stories, suitable for supporting and preparing the study."
