« Public health in Sardinia has been in a critical situation for too long, characterized by a shortage of medical and nursing staff , which has often led to the closure of entire hospital wards . A particularly worrying aspect concerns the head physicians in public hospitals , which are insufficient compared to the needs of the island".

Thus the councilor of the Democratic Party Roberto Deriu in a question - in these hours at the center of attention of the Regional Council - on the profound health crisis on the island. The document, signed by the entire dem group, is addressed to the regional health councilor and aims to shed light on the shortage of primary doctors, now directors of complex structures, in the island's public hospitals.

«With the question, the PD group asks for precise information on the current number of directors of complex structures present in Sardinian public hospitals, as well as knowing how many competitions for this position are currently underway. "Data of fundamental importance to understand the extent of the problem and to take any corrective actions", specified the exponent dem.

For Deriu, the lack of primary care physicians can "have serious repercussions on hospital organisation, personnel management and the quality of services offered to citizens, who risk not receiving the essential health care to which they are entitled. Many people find themselves forced to travel long distances to access treatment, with serious inconvenience for both patients and their families". To address the crisis in Sardinian public health therefore - concludes the secretary - it is "urgent to adopt concrete measures, guaranteeing an adequate number of directors of complex structures and better management of human resources to offer an efficient and quality health service to all citizens . The current situation cannot be ignored, immediate action is needed to ensure a better future for public health in our land."
