Sardinian healthcare, Cgil rejects the law: "There is a lack of 800 beds and 1,900 new doctors"
The union: «Yet another reform with wrong priorities. Targeted interventions are needed to resolve emergencies»Video di Stefano Fioretti
The CGIL rejects the Government's bill on health issues.
The union's judgment is in fact "negative" , as the measure "substantially proposes a new, yet another, reform for which there is no need, while targeted interventions and planning actions that affect emergencies are needed ". This is what the head of the union's Health Department, Roberta Gessa, said during the hearing in the Regional Council , who dismantled, almost point by point, chapter by chapter, the law's articulation, at the same time putting forward alternative proposals.
"In the meantime - he clarified in the introduction - we know that there are already important corrective amendments on the text we are called to discuss today, but it is worth clarifying right away that there is a problem with the overall approach that we contest, because the priorities must be addressed in a different way".
For the Cgil "there must be a single beacon to guide political choices: the citizens' need for health, which is currently denied. People give up treatment due to interminable waiting lists, the emergency rooms that remain open are stormed because there is no widespread network in the territories and, after very long waits, when hospitalization is necessary, perhaps there is no bed available".
The Cgil then underlined what is missing and what are the priorities to be addressed: «First of all, it is necessary to rebalance the deficit of 800 beds for acute care, going from 2.75 to 3.70 per thousand inhabitants as provided for by ministerial decree 70, provide for an extraordinary hiring plan, guarantee an adequate number of family doctors, pediatricians and medical guards, fill the deficit of the network of territorial services which is also essential for the proper functioning of the hospital network in all the territories of Sardinia».
The secretary also recalled that «50 community homes required by law must be built in Sardinia and that, in general, to make the system work, approximately 1900 doctors and health professionals must be hired».
"This is what is needed - according to the Cgil - not reforms and new company perimeters, because the point is not which company you are merged with but what are the addresses, services, equipment, tools and human resources assigned".
Cgil also underlines the lack of provision for discussion with the unions: «It is surprising to note that among the subjects that must be involved in the discussions on the organization, services and activities of the system, there is no reference to the confederate trade union organizations that represent the rights of citizens and workers who operate in the health service».
