Coldiretti Sardinia is at the forefront against food waste, which - in the domestic sphere alone - in Italy is quantified at around 675 grams per capita per week , with a cost for the country that reaches almost 10 billion euros every year.

A figure which, according to estimates, would be sufficient to feed over 3 million poor people.

To raise awareness among the population, today, on the eve of the National Food Waste Prevention Day , local farms will be on the field in all the markets on the island, with the support of the farmer chefs of the agritourisms of the Terranostra network.

The aim is to provide a "cross-section" of all the actions that must be put into practice every day to combat food waste: from shopping advice to cooking leftovers, to the anti-waste decalogue will be accompanied by many other secrets of the peasant tradition.

The appointment is in the markets of Campagna Amica di Sassari (hemicycle and covered by moon and sun), Nuoro (covered at Exmè), Oristano (covered via degli Artigiani), Quartu Sant'Elena in Pitz'e Serra and Monserrato, in street of the Redeemer.

Furthermore, Campagna Amica has also undertaken a partnership with Too Good To Go to carry out a shared project to fight against food waste. One year after the collaboration we have achieved extraordinary results also thanks to the Sardinian companies.

«The fight against waste - explains Coldiretti Sardegna - begins in the shopping cart and ends with the rediscovery of the dishes of the day after which enhance leftovers and help to preserve and pass on the culinary traditions of the past to the new generations. During the day the shopping tutors of Campagna Amica will offer useful advice for purchases while the peasant cooks of Terranostra will show grandmother's recipes based on a tradition of anti-waste recovery capable of enhancing flavors and imagination in the name of savings and sustainability » .
