Alessio Lupo, the boyfriend of Claudia Chessa, the 18-year-old girl from Arzachena who jumped from the balcony of her hotel room in Malta in the early hours of Thursday morning to escape his beatings, admitted in court that he injured her. Judicial sources reported.

Lupo, 27, was stopped by the police after hotel staff helped the girl, who was hospitalized with serious back injuries.

Last Friday, before Judge Jean Paul Grech of the Valletta Court, he pleaded guilty to "minor bodily harm which caused his partner to fear violence" as well as drug possession.

A small bag of cocaine was also found in the hotel room. He was fined €250 for possession of the drug and given a two-year conditional release from prison, which allowed him to leave Malta.
