Merciless and worrying analysis on the situation of the population in Sardinia by the National Institute of Statistics .

According to Istat projections, in the next 20 years Sardinia will record a demographic decline of 240 thousand inhabitants , going from 1 million 587 thousand to 1 million 348 thousand.

Worrying data, in particular, for 15 municipalities in the Sassari area . Significant population drops in Sassari (-20 thousand), Alghero (-3,718), Sorso (-1,483), Sennori (-1,400). Negative record in Ozieri, where a decline of 2,379 inhabitants is expected. The only positive data comes from Sardinia with Olbia and Budoni, where there will be a growth of around 4 thousand residents.

For Nuoro the losses are around around 40 thousand residents, in Nuoro 28,714.

Another fact to reflect on: in 2050 40% of Sardinians will be over 45 years old .
