The wave of bad weather that has hit Italy in the last few hours has also reached Sardinia . Temperatures are plummeting, with snow on the Gennargentu mountains in the Nuoro area and on Mount Limbara in Gallura.

The peaks of Fonni and Desulo - where the minimum temperature in the morning was 2 degrees below zero - are covered in snow , but no particular traffic problems have been recorded.

The situation is critical due to gusts of mistral wind that have been lashing the island since the early hours of the morning , reaching speeds of up to 100 km/h. Firefighters from the Cagliari and Oristano provincial commands have completed or are waiting to complete approximately 120 operations due to the damage caused by the strong winds.

In Santa Giusta, in the Oristano province, the large tree in front of the basilica steps collapsed . Firefighters worked on fallen signs, lampposts, and unsafe cornices; some branches and trees fell onto the street, but overall no significant damage or injuries were reported.
